On the Renxu day in the first month of Longchang, a halo appeared around the sun, with one on each side of the north and south, each about a zhang in length, disappearing after a while. In the first year of Yongyuan, on the Yiyu day of the twelfth month, three black spots appeared in the sun. In the fourth year of Jianyuan, on the Gengyin day of the tenth month, a halo appeared around the moon, enveloping the Big Dipper and the head of Orion.
In the first month of Yongming's first year, from the first day to the fifteenth day, there were three halos around the moon, surrounding the Taiwei star and Mars. Historians say that in the "Yueling," both dim and bright stars are associated with the twenty-eight constellations. There is a small gap between Ji Xiu and Dou Xiu. In September, the moon had a conflict with the star one foot northeast of the first star on the north side of Fang Constellation, also obscuring the closed star of Guan Jian. In Ding You, the moon entered Dongjing Constellation. In Jia Chen, the moon had a conflict with the star nine inches northwest of Zuo Jiao Star, and aligned with Mars one foot six inches southwest.
On the day of Geng You in October, the moon moved to the middle of Di Constellation, three inches northeast of the southwest star, breaching taboos. In the intercalary month of Ren Chen, the moon moved to Dongjing Constellation.
In November, the moon reached the center of the Yu Lin constellation; on the day of Bing Xu, it violated taboos. On the day of Yi Wei, the moon moved one foot and five inches south of the second star of the Dongjing constellation, violating taboos.
