On the day of Jiawu in May, Mars invaded the Ghost constellation and the Accumulated Corpses star. "Jia" represents the Qi state. The diviners said, "Ministers will be executed, war will break out on a large scale, torture devices will be used, and there will be great funerals." Sure enough, in October of the following year, the general Wu Mingche of the Chen Kingdom attacked Pengcheng. At that time, officials including Cui Jishu, Zhang Diao, Pei Ze, Guo Zun, and Feng Xiaoyan advised the emperor not to go north to Bingzhou. The emperor was furious and had them all killed, which fulfilled the prophecy of "wars and casualties both at home and abroad." The divination said: "Venus is moving near Xuanyuan, which means the ministers will issue orders." It also stated: "The empress will lose power." On another day of the same month, Mars was in conjunction with the second star at the northern end of the Eastern Well. The divination said: "There will be turmoil in the country." It also mentioned: "There will be a severe drought." In September of that year, the Chancellor forced the emperor to abdicate, imprisoning him in an old residence, and a month later, he was killed. The officials Li Zhi, military commander Sun Heng, and palace official Yi Fu Feng were also killed. That winter, a severe drought indeed occurred. These events all fulfilled the omens mentioned in the divination regarding "ministers issuing orders," "ministerial deaths," and "drought."

In March of 580, on a certain day, Mars entered Xuanyuan. The divination said: "This is an ominous sign for the ruler, and the empress will also be in danger." That month, the empress, Dugu, died. In February of 487 AD, there was a solar eclipse. Afterwards, Mars appeared near the star Canopus, which is to the right of the constellation Fang. In March, Mars again moved to the right of the constellation Fang. The diviners said, "The prime minister is destined to die, the chariots will race, people will flee in all directions, and there will be war throughout the land!" In October of that year, Duke Hu of Jin led troops to attack the Qi state. In December, Wang Xiong died on the battlefield, and the Jin army retreated. This fulfilled the prophecy that stated, "When the troops rise, the general will die." In August, another solar eclipse occurred.

In January of 488 AD, a white halo appeared across the sun. The diviners said, "This is a sign of military disaster!" Following that, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter gathered in the constellation of Lou. In June, a comet emerged from the constellation San Tai, passed through the constellation Wen Chang, crossed the general star, then went through the Purple Palace and Western Wall, entering the constellation Wei, growing longer and longer, reaching over ten feet in length, pointing towards the constellations Shi and Bi. After more than a hundred days, the comet gradually shortened and finally reached two feet five inches, disappearing between the constellations Xu and Wei, marking the division of the Qi state. In July, another solar eclipse occurred.

In January of 489 AD, a solar eclipse occurred. In October, Venus was surprisingly seen during the day, crossing the sky. The following year, on the first day of the lunar new year, a solar eclipse took place. On a certain day in May, the planet Jupiter (the Year Star) and Mars (the Wandering Star) aligned in the constellation Jing, only five feet apart. The constellation Jing marks the border of the Qin state. The divination revealed: "This country will have war, famine, and drought. The ministers are secretly plotting conspiracies, and there are those below who will rebel, possibly losing their lands." On a certain day in the intercalary June, Jupiter and Venus (the Bright Star) aligned in the constellation Liu, only one foot seven inches apart. The constellation Liu marks the border of the Zhou state. The divination revealed: "There will be internal turmoil." It also said, "The rulers will face grave concerns and will lose cities." That year, Hua Jiao, the Inspector of Chenzhou, led his troops to surrender, and the court sent General Wei Gongzhi to support him, thus launching a southern expedition. In September, Wei Gongzhi and the Chen general Chunyu Liang fought at Dunkou, and the court's army was defeated. Yuan Ding and Wei Shichong led thousands of infantry and cavalry to cross the river first, but the entire army was decimated in Chen territory.

One day in July, the planet Tai Bai intruded upon the star Xuan Yuan (the North Star), at a distance of seven cun. The divination result was: "The female sovereign (queen or empress) will lose power, and the ministers will profit from this." It further indicated: "Chaos will arise in the west." On a day in November that year, Grand Guardian Tai Bao and Minister Xu Gong Yuwen Gui passed away, fulfilling the divination that "the ministers will benefit." On another occasion, Mars intruded upon the star Gou Qian, at a distance of six cun. The divination indicated: "The ruler will be troubled." It further stated: "Panic will ensue among the chariots and horses, and the three highest-ranking officials will conspire."

In the year 606 AD, in March, a bright star appeared to the north of the Well constellation, and it was an ill-omened star! The divination results foretold: "The general will face disaster." Indeed, in July of the same year, Yang Zhong, a founding hero of the Sui Dynasty, died. In April, the bright star moved closer to the Ghost and Accumulated Corpses stars, which was a dire omen! The divination suggested: "Ministers will be executed." Another interpretation suggested: "Rebellious ministers and traitorous sons will cause chaos and slaughter the city." In June, a comet appeared near the Eastern Well star, approximately ten feet long, white on top and red on the bottom, pointed, slowly moving eastward. By July, it disappeared eight inches north of the Ghost constellation. The divination result was: "War will break out, and the national political landscape will crumble." Another interpretation was: "The general will die, and ministers will be executed." In July, a guest star appeared in the center of the Room constellation, pure white like cotton, as large as a斗, and it grew larger, also moving east; in August, it entered the Heavenly Market, stretching like a silk ribbon, continuing eastward, and even encroaching upon the Right General star of the River Drum; it subsequently encroached upon the Gourd and Chamber stars, and finally encroached upon the Palace of Departure star; in September, it entered the Well constellation, the star diminished, and ultimately vanished one foot north of the Lou constellation. This guest star appeared for a total of sixty-nine days. The divination foretold: "War will occur, there will likely be funerals, many people will wear white clothing, there will be famine and drought, and the national regime will be overthrown." Another interpretation suggested: "The army will attack the outer city, and ministers will be executed."

In February of the year 607 AD, the planet Venus moved retrograde, blocking the upper general star of the Northern Dipper. The divination said: "The world will be greatly shocked, the country will be unsettled, the four assistant ministers will be executed, there will be an outbreak of war, and there will be a general amnesty." In the same month, a meteor, as large as a bushel, appeared from the left side of the Dipper and flew all the way to the Tianjin star before disappearing, emitting a thunder-like sound. In May, the planet Mars invaded the Yuheng and Gui stars; later it invaded the Accumulated Corpses constellation. The divination said: "The south represents the Qin territory. Great ministers will be executed, and a large-scale war will break out." Three years later, the Grand Tutor, Grand Chancellor, and Duke of Jin, Yuwen Hu, were killed for rebellion, fulfilling the previous divination.

In January of the year 608 AD, the moon was in the Xi constellation, with a halo appearing and a white rainbow over a length of about a zhang connecting to the moon halo, with two halo rings like earrings connecting to it, pointing directly to the fourth star of the Northern Dipper. The divination said: "A large-scale war will occur, a great battle will break out, and the general will die on the battlefield." That winter, General Hulü Mingyue of Qi led troops to invade the border, constructing a city north of the Fen River, from Huagu all the way to Longmen. In the following January, the court ordered Duke Xian of Qi to assemble troops for defense. In March, Duke Xian of Qi crossed the Yellow River at Longmen, captured the five newly built cities, fulfilling the prophecy of "troops rising for a great battle" from the divination.

In February of the sixth year, on the night of Ji Chou, a strange cloud appeared in the sky, spanning three zhang wide, stretching across the sky from the Xu position to the Chen position. This is definitely not a good sign! On the first day of the fourth month, the day of Wu Yin, a solar eclipse occurred; on the Ji Yin day, Mars was in retrograde, and it clashed with the Yuguixing. The diviners said, "This indicates that there will be war and casualties, ministers will be executed, and a large-scale war is about to break out." Sure enough, that month, the emperor led his troops to conquer nine cities, including Yiyang in Qi. In June, the Qi army took Fenzhou. On the Geng Chen day in June, Mars and Venus were in conjunction, appearing in the Zhang constellation, only a foot apart. The diviners said, "This indicates that the commander’s forces will face defeat, and neighboring states will face disaster." This is just a string of bad news!

In the first year of Jian De, on the Bing Chen day in March, Mars and Venus aligned again, referred to as "The Conjunction of the Wandering Star and the Bright Star." The soothsayers remarked, "This foretells war and casualties; it would be unwise to take action now, and if military action is taken, disaster will surely follow." Another interpretation suggests that "this indicates that there will be a change in the ruling princes; those with virtue will prosper, while those without will perish." That month, the emperor executed Duke Hu of Jin, along with his son Duke Tan of Hu, Duke Zhi of Ju, and Duke Jing of Chongye, and then issued a decree for a general amnesty. On the Gui Hai day in March, the emperor appointed Duke Xian of Qi as the Grand Minister, and it appeared that the divination results were coming to pass. On the Bing Wu day in July, Mars and Venus aligned in the Well asterism, separated by seven inches. The soothsayers said, "This indicates that there will be a ruler in subordinate states who will implement benevolent governance and thus gain the support of the world." Four years later, the emperor indeed led his troops to subdue the state of Qi and unify the realm, fulfilling the prophecy of the divination. On the Ji You day in September, the moon obscured the star known as Heart 2, with a separation of one inch. The soothsayers said, "This indicates that there are treacherous ministers by the emperor's side; within five years, a state will perish." Later, Emperor Wu of Zhou attacked Qi and destroyed the state of Qi, which again fulfilled the prophecy.

On the Xin Hai day in the second month of the second year, a celestial phenomenon appeared with a white rainbow spanning the sun. The diviners proclaimed, "This foretells that subjects will conspire against their sovereign, and it will happen within three years." They also said, "It will be the close ministers who will incite chaos." Indeed, in July of the following year, King Wei Zhi rebelled in the capital. On the Gui Hai day, Mars covered the ghost star in the northwest. The diviners said, "This indicates that a great rebel is close to the sovereign." They also said, "Ministers will be executed." The following year, the empress dowager indeed passed away.

On the Wu Wu day in the second month of the year 134 BC, a comet appeared in the sky, large and bright, about the size of a peach, with a bluish-white color, located three feet southeast of the Five Chariots star. This comet gradually drifted eastward, growing two more feet after some time. By the Ren Chen day in April, it entered the area of the Wenchang star; on the Ding Wei day, it entered the Big Dipper's Kui star, and then it emerged from the Kui star and gradually shrank. This comet appeared for a total of ninety-three days. The diviners said, "There will be war in the world, with carriages and horses everywhere, and the ruler will have troubles." On the Yimao day of April, a comet appeared outside the Purple Palace, about the size of a human fist, with a mix of red and white, pointing towards the Seat of the Five Emperors, slowly moving southeast, growing another fifteen feet in length; on the Jiazi day in May, it disappeared after it reached Taipei. The diviners said, "The world is about to undergo a change in dynasty, and rulers without virtue will perish." Two years later, Emperor Wu of Han led an army to destroy the State of Qi. On the Bingzi day in November, Jupiter and the Planet Venus collided, with their lights intertwining, appearing in the Wei constellation. The diviners said, "There will be rebellious forces, the monarch will face danger, and will lose cities. The Wei constellation marks the boundary of the State of Qi." Two years later, Yuwen Shenju conquered five cities including Luhun. On the Gengyin day in December, the moon obscured Jupiter, which was positioned two inches from the Wei constellation. The diviners said, "That country will face exile for no more than three years." On the second day of Gengyin, the Xinmao day, the moon moved to the Camp constellation, blocking the Planet Venus. The diviners said, "That country will perish due to war, and the general will die in battle. The Camp constellation is the star associated with the State of Wei, located within the territory of Qi." Later, the State of Qi was destroyed and submitted to the Zhou dynasty. On the Jiazi day in the third month of the fourth year, the moon obscured the Xuanyuan star. The diviners said, "The lady of the household will have concerns, and the court officials will fall into chaos." On the Gengxu day in the tenth month of the fifth year, Mars invaded the western general star of the Taiwei constellation. The diviners said, "The world will be unsettled, and the general will be killed; if they are guilty, so be it."

In the sixth year of the reign, in the second month, the crown prince went west to conduct inspections and engage in battle against Tuyuhun. In August, he returned upon arriving at Fusi City. The Tuyuhun always harassed the border, and the world was not at peace, which were all ominous signs. On the day of Gengwu in the sixth month, Mars entered the Ghost constellation. The diviners said, "There will be funerals and droughts." Sure enough, in July, there was a drought in the capital. On the day of the tenth month, Jupiter was in conjunction with the Great Tomb. They further stated, "There will be a general amnesty." On Guihai day, the emperor led his troops to attack Jinzhou. On that day, a rainbow appeared over Jinzhou's walls, stretching over ten zhang, one end facing south and the other pointing to the Purple Palace. On the day of Gengwu, Jinzhou was captured. On the night of Dingmao, a white rainbow was spotted, also stretching over ten zhang, one end facing south and the other pointing to the Purple Palace. The diviners said, "This portends war and bloodshed." They also said, "If there is no war, there will be significant mourning." By the first month of the sixth year, Qi was pacified, and a major battle was fought against the Qi army. In November, the Ji Hu people rebelled, but the king of Qi swiftly subdued them.

In the fourth month of the year 6 AD, prior to this, Mars had stayed in the Palace of Taiwei for two hundred days and had offended the Prime Minister of the Eastern Xiongnu and the General of the Western Xiongnu, causing much turmoil. On the Jiazi day of this month, Mars finally emerged from the Duan Gate. The diviners said, "A minister will replace the emperor." They also said, "If the subjects do not submit, there will be a rebellion." They further stated, "There will definitely be a major funeral." Dousu is associated with the Wu and Yue states and marks the boundary of Chen." In November, Wu Mingche, Chen state's general, invaded Luliang, and Liang Shiyan, the governor of Xuzhou, led troops to battle but was ultimately unsuccessful. In March of the following year, Duke Tan, Wang Gui, went to attack and captured Wu Mingche, killing over thirty thousand captives. On the day of Jiachen in November, in the afternoon, a black spot appeared in the sun, the size of a cup. The diviners said, "This indicates that the ruler has made a mistake, and the subjects fail to advise him, which displeases the ruler." On the day of Guichou in December, a meteor the size of the moon flew from the west, making a sound, and trailing in a serpentine path, illuminating the ground. The diviners said, "A great battle is about to occur, and there will be a battlefield below." The diviners said, "The ruler is about to leave his palace." In that month, Gao Baoning, the Inspector of Yingzhou, rebelled. In May of the following year, the emperor personally led a northern campaign. A year later, Emperor Wu passed away.

In the first year of the Xuanzheng reign, in the first month, on the day of Bingzi, a lunar eclipse occurred, covering the Pleiades star cluster. The divination said: "There will be a gathering of people in white robes." It also said: "The Xiongnu will invade the borders." Indeed, that month the Turks launched an attack on Youzhou, killing many officials and common people. In May, the emperor personally led his troops northward. In June, the emperor's health deteriorated, and he died in Yunyang on his way back to the capital. On the days of Renwu and Guichou in June, Jupiter, Mars, and Venus aligned in the Well constellation. The divination said: "The country will become strong." It also said: "There will be wars and casualties both domestically and abroad, and a new monarch will be appointed." This month, Lu Changqi from Youzhou raised an army in Fanyang to rebel and declared himself king, which fulfilled the prophecy of "military losses" and "the establishment of new lords" in the divination.

In the seventh year of the Xinchou year, the moon obscured the star in front of the Heart constellation. The divination said: "The crown prince will encounter misfortune and may lose his status." Later, Emperor Jing ascended the throne, but did not reign for long before his death, which fulfilled the prophecy. On the day of Bingchen, Mars and Venus aligned near the Seven Stars constellation, at a distance of two feet and eight inches. The divination said: "The ruler will experience sorrow." It also said: "There will be wars in the realm, and a new monarch will be appointed, and virtuous people will prosper while those without virtue will perish." The following year, four ministers were appointed to assist, and the throne was transferred to the crown prince, fulfilling the prophecy of "establishing new lords." On the day of Jiwai, Venus obscured the Xuanyuan star. The divination said: "The female ruler will encounter disaster." Two years later, Emperor Xuan passed away, and Empress Yang appointed her father, Duke Sui, as the Grand Chancellor, in charge of military and state affairs. After the Sui family seized power, they deposed Empress Yang, making her Princess of Leping, while the remaining four empresses were compelled to become nuns.

On the day of Gengchen in August, the planet Venus (Taibai Xing) entered the Taiwei constellation. The divination said: "There will be shocking events in the world." It also said: "Close ministers will rebel, ministers will kill each other, and the country will face troubles." Later, five kings including King Zhao and King Chen were all executed by the rulers, which fulfilled the prophecy of "ministers killing each other" in the divination. On Dingyou Day in September, the planet Mars entered the west gate of Taiwei, obscuring the Left Law Star by three inches. The divination said: "The world is restless, ministers will be worried." It also said: "If the law enforcers commit crimes, they will be executed." This month, the Jihu people in Fenzhou rebelled, but were eventually quelled. In November, the Turks invaded the borders, surrounded Jiuquan, and killed many officials and civilians. In the second month of the following year, Zhuguo and Tangong Wanggui were killed. All of these events fulfilled the prophecy of the divination. On the day of Guiwei in December, Mars entered the Di constellation (Zhi Xiu) and stayed for thirty days. The divination said: "The emperor will lose his throne." It also said: "There are traitorous officials in the court, and there will be rebellion below." It also said: "The ruler will die of hunger or poisoning." Later, Emperor Jing abdicated, and Yang Jian, the Emperor Wen of Sui, imprisoned and killed him.

In the first year of the Xuantian era of Emperor Xuan, in the first month, on the days of Bingwu and Guichou, there were solar eclipses, which people saw as a bad omen, foretelling that "ministers will rebel, there will be chaos, and border generals will join in." The divination also said: "Officials and nobles want to be the master," meaning that high officials and nobles all aspired to become emperors!

Sure enough, as expected, later, Duke Yang Jian of Sui seized power, and not only that, Wei Jiong, Wang Qian, and Sima Xiaonan all rebelled, causing chaos in the world! "Ministers will rebel, there will be chaos, and border generals will join in." "Officials and nobles want to be the master." This divination turned out to be spot on!

In the first year of the Elephant Era, on Wuzi day, a rare phenomenon occurred in the sky with the appearance of the Tai Bai star, the Sui star, and the Chen star positioned in the Well constellation. "The Tai Bai star, the Sui star, and the Chen star together in the Well," the diviners said, "This predicts turmoil in the country, large-scale killings, and even a change of dynasty." They also said, "Although this country may rise to power, it can only become strong through cultivating virtue; otherwise, it will face disaster." Sure enough, in May, the five vassal states—Zhao, Chen, Yue, Dai, and Teng—submitted to the Sui Dynasty. Two years later, Sui King Yang Jian was appointed emperor, and all members of the Yuwen clan were killed.

On Dingmao day in June, a meteor appeared in the sky, the size of an egg, flying out from the Di constellation towards the northwest with a tail nearly ten feet long, finally flying into the moon and disappearing. "There is a meteor, the size of an egg, coming out from the Di, flowing northwest, with a tail ten feet long, entering the moon, then disappearing," the diviners said, "Within three years, the emperor will face great trouble." They also said, "The country will perish." This was realized when Sui Emperor Yang Jian imprisoned his grandson, Yang Yong. On Jichou day, another meteor appeared, the size of the Dipper, blue in color, shining brightly, flying out from the Camp constellation, hitting the Wall constellation, and then disappearing into the Muddy constellation. On Renchen day in July, Mars obscured the first star north of the Room constellation. "Mars covers the first star north of the Room," the diviners said, "This signifies the country's impending demise!" They also said, "Generals will rebel, the emperor will be furious, there will be rebellious ministers, and the emperor will be full of worries."

In December, the emperor personally rode a courier horse, covering three hundred miles in a day. The empress, along with hundreds of civil and military officials, all rode fast horses to follow. The mansion symbolizes the heavenly horses, and the planet Mars represents war and chaos, suggesting that Emperor Yang Jian ignored moral principles while traveling extensively, which was a sign of impending national demise! On the Xinsi day in August, Mars crossed into the fifth star of the Southern Dipper. The fortune tellers warned: "Traitors will arise, roads will be blocked, the army will suffer defeats, and generals will be killed." This came to pass with the uprising and eventual downfall of Wei Jiong, Wang Qian, and others. On the Jiyou day in September, Venus entered the heart of the Southern Dipper. The fortune tellers predicted: "The emperor will die, or at the very least, fall ill." They also said: "Noble titles and salaries throughout the country will be redistributed." All of these predictions came true with Emperor Yang Jian's ascension to the throne and the granting of titles to his courtiers.

On the day of Renxu in October, the Planet of the Year encroached upon the Great Star of Xuanyuan. "The Planet of the Year encroaches upon the Great Star of Xuanyuan," said the diviners: "The queen will face disaster or may lose power." Beginning in the first year of the Xuan Zheng era, Mars, Venus, and the Planet of the Year gathered in the Eastern Well constellation. In April of the first year of the Great Elephant, Venus, the Planet of the Year, and the Planet of the Dragon again gathered in the Well constellation. In October, the Planet of the Year approached the Xuanyuan star again. That year, the Planet of the Year also arrived at the Wing constellation. "The Eastern Well corresponds to Qin territory, the Wing corresponds to Chu territory, the eastern part of the Han Dynasty corresponds to Chu territory, the Xuanyuan star represents the descendants of Emperor Xuanyuan, the Yang family of the Sui Dynasty rose to power in Qin territory, and the queen of the Zhou Dynasty lost power; all of these corresponded."

On the day of Yiyou, Mars was positioned in the Void constellation, in conjunction with the Filling star. "Mars in the Void, in conjunction with the Filling star," said the diviners: "A large-scale war will break out, generals will rebel, and the nobles will be very angry." That month, Duan Deju, the governor of Xiangzhou, conspired to rebel and was ultimately executed. On the day of Yichou in April of the year 578, a star appeared in the sky, as large as the Big Dipper, flying past the Heavenly Kitchen constellation, passing through the Purple Palace, and disappearing at the Hook Chen constellation. The diviners said: "This signifies that a great funeral will take place, there will be large-scale wars, and generals will be killed." They also said: "Ministers will commit treason, and the ruler will have concerns." Indeed, in May, the emperor passed away, and Sui Gong Yang Jian took control of the court. The emperor's death and the ministers' treason both came to fruition. King Zhao and King Yue were killed for plotting to usurp power. At the same time, the tribes in Jingzhou, Yuzhou, and Xiangzhou rose in revolt; Wei Jiong, Wang Qian, Sima Xiaonan, and others each raised troops to rebel, refusing to submit to Yang Jian's rule, and were ultimately subdued. All of these events fulfilled the prophecy of "great armies rising, generals being slaughtered."

On the Jiachen day in May, another meteor appeared, as large as three dǒu (a traditional Chinese measurement), moving past the End Gate star in the Taiwei constellation and into the Wing constellation. Its color was bluish-white, illuminating the earth with its brightness, and its sound resembled the wind rustling through a flag. The diviners said, "This signifies that a new ruler will ascend to the throne, or that the monarch will move the capital." They also said, "The country will lose its monarch." On the Jiyou day of that month, the emperor died. Liu Fang forged an edict, allowing Duke Yang Jian of Sui to govern under the guise of acting on a will. Eventually, Yang Jian took control, and the new ruler ascended, the capital was moved, and the country lost its monarch; all these predictions came true. On the Renzi day in July, the Year Star and the Venus Star were in conjunction in the Zhang constellation, and another meteor appeared, as large as a dǒu, flying from the northeast of the Five Carriages constellation, illuminating the earth. On the Jiashen day in September, the Mars Star and the Year Star aligned in the Wing constellation.

On the Yiyou day in the first month of the year 579, the Year Star was in retrograde, stopping at the Right Law Star constellation, while the Mars Star obscured the northernmost star of the Fang constellation. The diviners said, "The Fang constellation represents the Ming Hall, where state affairs are managed; if the ruler lacks virtue, it will be lost." On the Jiazi day in the second month, Yang Jian declared himself emperor, officially assuming the title.

On the Jiashen day in the third month of 581, the Venus Star was visible during the day. The diviners said, "The Venus Star appearing in the daytime signifies that the ministers are gaining power and showing signs of rebellion, which will leave the monarch unsettled." On the Renwu day in the fourth month, the Year Star appeared during the day. The diviners said, "The ministers have great power, showing signs of rebellion; the monarch will be unsettled." Later, Liu Fang and others indeed plotted rebellion and were put to death. On the Jisi day in November, a meteor appeared, sounding like the collapse of a city wall, illuminating the earth. The diviners said, "A meteor with light and sound is known as Tianbao; where it falls, the nation will have joyous events." Nine years later, the Sui Dynasty defeated the Chen Dynasty, achieving unification of the realm. On the Wushen day in August 586, hundreds of meteors appeared, scattering everywhere. The diviners said, "Many small stars scattering are an omen of the people's migration." Nine years later, the Sui Dynasty subdued the Chen Dynasty, and all the scholars from Jiangnan migrated to the capital.

In February of the year 588 AD, a star entered the Dongjing asterism. The divination revealed: "This star signifies virtue and is favorable for military endeavors." This means that the appearance of this star symbolizes virtue and bodes well for military campaigns. That year, the Sui Dynasty launched a large-scale attack on the Chen Dynasty, eventually conquering it. In October of the same year, another star appeared abnormally near the Qianniu asterism. The divination result was: "Ministers will betray their ruler, conspiring across the realm." Another interpretation was: "If there is no internal chaos, there will be external invasion. The cow symbolizes the stars of Wu and Yue, marking the borders of the Chen Dynasty." This means that either there will be internal turmoil or external enemies will invade. The Qianniu asterism is linked to Wu and Yue, delineating the territory of the Chen Dynasty. The following year, the Chen Dynasty indeed perished.

In January of the year 589 AD, there was the sight of a white rainbow arching across the sun. The divination indicated: "The white rainbow encircles the sun; ministers will betray their ruler." Another interpretation was: "A ruler lacking virtue is doomed." This means that if the ruler lacks virtue, they will perish. In that month, the Chen Dynasty indeed perished.

In November of the year 594 AD, a comet appeared near the Xuwei and Kuilou asterisms, which were the boundaries of the Qi and Lu states. Later, the ruler of Lu, Yu Qingze, was executed, and the ruler of Qi, Gao Feng, was deposed.

In December of the year 599 AD, a star fell in the Bohai Sea. The divination result was: "The sun loses its position, the onset of calamity." Another interpretation was: "Great men will worry." This means that high-ranking officials will have cause for concern. In October of the year 600 AD, Venus was visible even during the day. The divination result was: "The ministers are powerful, leading to political change and a new king." This means that powerful ministers will lead to a change in dynasty and the replacement of the emperor. At that time, the Right Assistant Minister Yang Su deceived Emperor Wen of Sui and his Empress, persuading them to depose Crown Prince Yang Yong and install Yang Guang as Crown Prince. That month, Yang Yong was demoted to commoner status. The following year marked a change in the era. All these events confirmed the divination results of "The sun loses its position" and "Political change, new king."

In June of the year 604, a star appeared in the moon. The divination result was: "There will be great funerals, great armies, the destruction of nations, and generals being killed." This means there will be significant deaths, major wars, the fall of countries, and commanders being killed. In July, the sunlight dimmed and only returned to normal after eight days. The divination result was: "The ruler's power is seized." This means that the monarch's authority was weakened. Another interpretation stated: "The sun is darkened, and a king will die." Emperor Wen of Sui fell seriously ill that year and soon passed away. The Han prince Yang Liang raised an army to rebel, and Yang Su quelled the uprising. All of these fulfilled the prophecy of "soldiers dying, nations falling, and kings perishing" from the divination.

In June of the year 605, the comet appeared in the Taiwei Palace. The divination result was: "The comet signifies chaos entering the palace and unrest within." This means that the comet symbolizes disaster, leading to turmoil in the court and instability within the palace.

In March of the year 614, a comet appeared in the west, streaking across the sky, disappearing after passing through the constellations of Kui, Lou, Jiao, and Kang. By September, this star reappeared in the south, again streaking across the sky, passing through Jiao and Kang, and repeatedly sweeping over the Taiwei Emperor's throne, crossing many constellations without reaching those of Shen and Jing. It was not until a year later that this star disappeared. The divination result was: "This signifies the purging of corruption and the renewal of leadership; heaven intends to remove the unprincipled and establish the virtuous. The longer it appears, the deeper the disaster; the larger the star, the greater the events; the slower the movement, the longer the time. There will be large-scale wars, the country will descend into chaos and ruin, and the remaining disasters will be floods, droughts, famine, and epidemics." Following this, the court vigorously constructed the Great Wall, launched campaigns against Tuyuhun and Goguryeo, and warfare continued, with hardly a day of peace. Disasters, including floods, droughts, famine, and epidemics, struck in quick succession, with bandits rising everywhere, leaving towns and villages deserted. The impact of these events left society in turmoil and despair, marking a significant turning point in this tumultuous period.

In May of the ninth year of the reign, Yang Xuangan, the Minister of Rites, raised an army in Liyang to rebel. In June, the comet appeared in retrograde motion as it entered the Southern Dipper, its color was as red as blood and as large as three Dipper stars, shining brightly and measuring seven to eight feet in length, moving near the Si constellation in the Dipper. The divination indicated: "A rebellion by ministers is imminent." The Southern Dipper is the division of star constellations between Wu and Yue; Yang Xuangan's father was once enfeoffed in Yue and later moved to Chu. The comet's trajectory near the Si constellation seemed to suggest that heaven intended to eliminate his fiefdom. By July, Yuwen Shu had successfully quelled Yang Xuangan's rebellion, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands of his followers. In the same year, Zhu Xie and Guan Chong also raised an army to rebel in Wu County. After that, bandits roamed freely, plundering towns and villages, corpses littered the fields, and the roads became impassable, with couriers sent by the court able to walk only at night, afraid to take the main roads.

In June 616, a comet appeared southeast of Wenchang, measuring five to six inches in length, black and pointed in appearance, flickering unpredictably at night as it moved northwest, and a few days later reached near the Wenchang star, about four to five inches away from the Palace constellation, but it did not enter the Palace constellation, then reversed direction and disappeared. The divination indicated: "Urgent military matters are on the horizon." In August, the Turks laid siege to the emperor at Yanmen, and all the court troops went to Fengcheng to resist the enemy, with arrows flying perilously close to the emperor. In July, the comet lingered in the Yulin star constellation. The divination indicated: "The guards are on the verge of rebellion." In December, a massive meteor, the size of a wine scoop, fell into the camp of the bandit Lu Mingyue, smashing their tents and killing over ten people. The divination indicated: "Where the meteor falls, the army will surely face defeat, and the general will be killed." That same year, Wang Chong attacked Lu Mingyue and emerged victorious.

On the first day of the fifth month in the twelfth year, it was Bingxu day, and a solar eclipse occurred, specifically at the end. At that time, the seers proclaimed, "The solar eclipse has ended, the sovereign will die, the yin will overpower the yang, and subordinates will attack their superiors." Shortly after, Yu Wenhua and his followers revolted and killed the emperor.

Then, on Guisi day, a gigantic meteor fell in Wujun, turning into stone. The seers proclaimed, "A nation will perish, a monarch will die, a great war will occur, the army will be defeated, and its generals will fall." Later, a large army defeated the rebel Liu Yuanjin in Wujun and killed him. On Renzi day in August, another meteor appeared, as big as a dipper, flying past Wangliang Pavilion, with a sound like a wall crashing down; on Guichou day, another meteor as large as a big jar flew past the Yulin. On Wuwu day in September, two meteors, resembling arrows, flew out from the Dipper's Bright Star, twisting like snakes, flying all the way to the Southern Dipper. The seers said, "The sovereign will lose power due to war; this is a punishment from heaven for him." Others said, "Using rebellion to quell rebellion, those holding arrows (referring to the rulers) are mistaken." Two years later, Yu Wenhua assassinated the emperor and declared himself emperor; Wang Chong also killed Emperor Gong in the Eastern Capital and usurped the throne. This fulfilled the prophecy of slaying rebels and replacing rebellion with rebellion.

On the day of Xinhai in May of the thirteenth year, a meteor as large as a big vat fell in Jiangdu. The soothsayers predicted, "There will be a large-scale war, bloodshed, military defeat, and the generals will be killed." In June, a comet appeared in the seat of the Five Emperors in the Taiwei constellation, yellowish-red in color and about three to four feet long, disappearing after a few days. The soothsayers predicted, "A country will be destroyed, and a king will be killed." In the third month of the following year, Yuwen Huaji and his men indeed killed the emperor. On the Xinyou day of November, Mars entered Taiwei, and the sunlight spread like blood. The soothsayers predicted, "Intruders will invade the palace, and the monarch will face a sudden military assault." Some also said, "Ministers will betray the monarch." In the third month of the following year, Yuwen Huaji and his men indeed killed the emperor, and other kings and trusted ministers were also slain.
